Suzanne Miller and Nikki Cooper are two recycling artists with kindred spirits that refer to themselves as the Green Chicks. They create whimsical sculptures of animals and fanciful creatures by using recycled objects like plastic bottles, newspaper, wood and wire.
Recycled armatures are covered with layers of fabric maché made from recycled sheets. Sculptures are detailed using a homemade, air-dried newspaper clay. An acrylic mixture seals the clay and gives the sculptures fine detail before the acrylic paint and varnish finish the art works. Overall, the art is about 90% recycled.
