Every piece I design begins with pencil and paper, just as many other art forms are born.
 I focus on the drama, yet simplicity of lines impacting space. As lines curve, intersect or take a straight path, shapes and subtle images unite.
I edit carefully, frequently asking myself...is there balance, harmony? Is it thoughtfully composed? Good design is always about editing. I like to think that in the end the marks I have made, and even the ones I erased, resulted in a form of visual poetry.
With purpose and intent, I  spend just as much time selecting colors and textures of glass; just as a painter creates a color palette, and a clay artist emphasizes texture. With glass, I also try to keep the play of light in mind.
Like other artists, inspiration can come from nature or contain elements of symbolism, or just pure imagination. So for me, it is more than just cutting glass.
After the long labor and technique are finished, I hope each piece is a celebration of four main art components: color, texture, shape and movement.
My goal with commissioned pieces is to have the finished work enhance the architecture of one's environment.
I trust that people choose a piece from galleries or shows with the same intent, and untimately that they are always refreshed by it.

Ann holds a B.A. in Art and is a former Art teacher of all grade levels. She is represented by galleries mainly in the Midwest. Other mediums she works in are clay and watercolor.
